Global citizens possess a great many flexible and useful skills which help them experience the world in rewarding and meaningful ways. These include things such as critical thinking, problem solving, perseverance, resilience, adaptability, and empathy.
In this exercise we have identified 22 Global Citizenship Skills divided in 4 categories:
- Research and enquiry
- Intellectual and personal autonomy
- Communication
- Personal effectiveness
Reflect on each of the skills in the exercise below. How confident are you about each one at the beginning of your time abroad? Score yourself by ticking the relevant option for each of the skills on the list. In Module 12.1.: Launching Your Career you will be asked to do this exercise at the end of your international experience so that you can compare and reflect on the progress you made towards developing global citizenship skills.
Remember that this exercise is meant to make you reflect; there are no right or wrong answers and there is no minimum score required to pass.
